ISO 17034 certified  Certified Reference Materials (CRM) are the industry-standard recommendation for customers who wish to avoid the financial consequences of long-term mismeasurement and to ensure the measurement accuracy of analytical equipment.

EffecTech has been an ISO 17025 accredited calibration laboratory for over 20 years, and has recently been awarded ISO 17034 accreditation as a producer of of certified reference materials.

EffecTech® offers the following calibration gas mixtures:

Primary Reference Gas Mixtures (PRGM)

PRGMs are the highest quality gas mixtures available for use by commercial organisations. They have the lowest achievable uncertainties providing the most accurate realisation of the amount of substance fraction. Such mixtures are used by ISO 17025 accredited laboratories who need to establish reference values for internal gas standards. Available under the ISO 17025 scope only.

Mixtures are prepared and certified by high precision gravimetry and individually verified analytically by a traceable comparison method and in accordance with ISO 6142-1:2015.

Certified Reference Materials (CRM)

CRMs are the most commonly used gas mixtures for the calibration of gas chromatographs and other analytical devices as they offer value for money, particularly when supplied in large volume cylinders. A CRM is certified with an expiry date / stability period over which the gas mixture remains valid. Customers who request gas mixtures covered by both scopes of accreditation will receive a certificate showing conformity with both ISO 17034 and ISO 17025 standards.

EffecTech supplies CRMs for:

  • natural gas, LNG, sulphur and odourant gases for the oil and gas industry
  • binary emission gas mixtures for continuous emissions monitoring (CEM)

Mixtures are prepared by high precision gravimetry and individually calibrated analytically by a traceable comparison method in accordance with ISO 6143 and ISO 12963.

Calibrated Gas Mixtures (CGM)

EffecTech supplies calibrated gas mixtures (CGM) covered by its ISO 17025 accreditation including

  • blast furnace gases for process control and emissions trading requirements in iron and steel manufacturing.
  • for specialty gas manufacturers requiring accredited calibration gas mixtures for their customers we offer a calibration service of 3rd party mixtures.
  • for customers returning mixtures to EffecTech we offer a recalibration service.

These mixtures will be certified as CGMs and are individually calibrated analytically by a traceable comparison method in accordance with ISO 6143 and ISO 12963.
